GlassesUSA.com Review

Monday, November 26, 2012

I am always looking for ways to save money and now that I'll soon turn 52 I have to start looking at the possibility of wearing glasses. When I received an email from GlassesUSA.com to review it's website and products I logged onto their website to see the different products they had to offer.

One of the first things I noticed was the wide variety of glasses. I also like the idea of being able to purchase glasses online which saves me time and money.

Not sure if buying your eyeglasses online is for you? Check out Virtual Mirror.

With Virtual Mirror you can try before you buy glasses. I like this feature. I tried it out and found a frame that was just right for me. I chose Yoshi Ayaka 108. If I have to wear glasses then this ones for me!

Let me tell you why I love this style! I'm not all that keen about wearing glasses, but the Yoshi Ayaka 108 is modern, stylish, and perfect for a stubborn person like me who doesn't see herself as stylish and up to date. This particular frame is normally priced at $185, but right now you can save 55% and purchase it for only $84.

Before you choose a frame be sure to check out how it will look on you. The Virtual Mirror feature let's you try on different frames from plastic, metal, rimless, or semi-rimless.

Try it for yourself and see which glasses are your best fit and save a little money too!

Right now you can take advantage of a STOREWIDE OFFER -

Take 15% off your entire order amount + FREE shipping (orders over $50). Code: FS15

Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses. Code: Blog10

Disclosure: I was compensated by GlassesUSA for this review post.

Mulberry West Review and Discount Code

Friday, November 23, 2012

For the past week I've been sleeping in the lap of luxury; Mulberry West Silk-Filled Cotton Luxury Bedding that is...

On November 7th I received an email from Mulberry West asking if I would be willing to review one of their Mulberry West silk-filled comforters and satin-trimmed silk-filled blankets. Of course me being an almost 52 year-old post menopausal woman, I jumped at the chance and anyway I've always wanted to sleep under silk covers.

I received a Mulberry West silk-filled queen blanket to use and then review. Let me tell you for the past week I've slept like a baby.

The blanket came in nice protective packaging. The first thing I did was inspect my Mulberry West blanket. It was smooth as silk. What I love about this blanket is the fact it adjust to my body temperature. I don't have to worry about running hot or cold. Mulberry West silk-filled comforters and blankets are superior in quality when compared to other silk-filled comforters. They hand-source the certified Grade A mulberry silk and 300 thread count polished cotton themselves, and have the comforters and blankets sewn in an ethical and reputable factory that sews for a well-known Seattle outdoors store. And, their silk-filled satin-trimmed blankets are the only ones on the market!

Two winning factors also for me are Mulberry West silk-filled blankets and comforters are naturally hypoallergenic without chemicals and Mulberry silk repels bed bugs, dust mites, mold, and mildew. You can find out more here
Find out why Mulberry West silk-filled blankets and comforters are the perfect choice for menopausal women.

I have to give Mulberry West silk-filled blankets 5 stars for being a great choice for the menopausal woman.

Right now my readers can  take advantage of 25% off  plus free shipping on any Mulberry West silk-filled product.

Disclosure: I received a Mulberry West silk-filled queen blanket worth $239 for this review. All opinions are my own and I received no other compensation.

November is National Family Caregivers Month

Wednesday, November 21, 2012
November is National Family Caregivers Month

Recently my family dynamics changed. I was a full-time outside the home worker, but when my husband became ill and was hospitalized my life turned upside down and topsy-turvy.

My husband is 55. He was diagnosed with Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. He had to have 2 stints inserted into his groin and leg. Life changed. I am now a stay-at-home wife. I now care for my 55 year old husband, 8 year old grandson, 33 year old daughter and two pets.

I no longer have time to care for me. it's not easy being a caregiver when you are the only one. It takes a toll on your life, but there are things you can do:

Taking care of a loved one starts with taking care of yourself.
More than 65 million Americans are currently providing care for a loved one. ¹ But, sometimes caregivers neglect an important step: taking care of themselves.
Protecting the caregiver's own well being, both mentally and physically, is an incredibly important step in the caring process. So in honor of National Family Caregivers and National Hospice Month, UnitedHealthcare has some steps to help make the transition to caregiver.
Get out and enjoy time together:
Go for a walk. Go to a movie. Feed the ducks at a park. Keeping active may relieve stress and can create positive new memories.

Eat Healthy:
A healthy diet can keep you sharp. Stock up on healthy snacks and prepare your own meals. Here are some simple (and delicious) recipes for you and your loved one.

Educate yourself and your family:
Particularly for those dealing with advanced illness or end-of-life situations, it's important to prepare yourself and your children. A new activity book, Scarlet Says Goodbye, is one tool to help educate young children with a loved one entering hospice care. The book can be downloaded for free at:www.ScarletSaysGoodBye.com.

Don't be afraid to ask for help:
UnitedHealthcare understands that being a caregiver can be an emotionally and financially exhausting experience. UnitedHealthcare designed Solutions for Caregivers* specifically to help alleviate both of these issues. Visit

www.WhatIsSolutionsForCaregivers.com to learn about all the resources available, including other great recipes and aid in developing a care plan, built specifically for your situation.

Take care of you so you can take care of your loved ones!

“Paint It Purple” Blog Carnival

Hey bloggers! Help us kick raise awareness about violence against women during our ‘Paint It Purple’ campaign by contributing a blog post to our The “Paint It Purple” Blog Carnival
Just send us your “Paint It Purple” blog post via the submission form below by no later than 20 November 2012. Our Blog Carnival will be featured and shared via our social media channels on the last day of the campaign (24 November 2011).
Don’t know where to begin? Here are the topics relevant to the campaign:
Topic 1: Tell us why you support the cause to end violence against women. It could be your personal experience as a survivor. It could be your personal experience as an active bystander who helped a woman in your life escape the violence. It could just be your opinion about the issue.
Topic 2: Share your “Paint It Purple” experience. If you have thrown a “Paint It Purple” party, baked special “Paint It Purple” cupcakes to raise funds for us and your local VAW nonprofit or donated “Paint It Purple” cupcakes to your local women’s shelter, share your story and your pictures (and recipe!) with us.
Topic 3: If you are a man… Share with us why you feel that violence against women needs to end and your views about how men and boys can step up to help stop the violence.
I am participating by sharing my story of survival.

In 1979 I met my first husband. I was 18, he was 19. I had a four month old baby. I married him, not for love, but for stability. Our live together wasn't a picnic. We stayed together seven years and had three children together. I WAS ABUSED!

Live with X wasn't picture perfect. I won't go into details, because it is in the past. Today, I am talking about my survival. I left X after 7 years. I met my second husband when I was 25. We've been together 26 years. We argue, but no abuse.

Did I forgive my 1st husband? Yes I did, in fact we are now friends.

For some abused women moving forward is not easy. It took me 26 years to forgive. I never forgot what X did to me, but I did forgive him.

Day 4 #NHBPM

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Day 4 prompt: Day 4 – Sunday, Nov. 4
Disclosure post. How did you decide what to share? What do/don’t you share?
OR
Write about what’s in your bag / purse / backpack every day

I'm writing a disclosure post. My life is an open book, I have no secrets to hide. If you are a reader or follower of my blog then you know the real me. I blog about my health, my sex life, my family(names changed of course). Do I always believe honesty is the best policy? No always, but I try to write what I feel and keep it as real as possible. Do I cross the line? I don't think I do. My family knows I write about them. I think being honest and disclosing is keeping your blog real and readable.

Keep it real, be yourself.

Day 3 #NHBPM

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Today's #NHBPM prompt is:

Day 3 – Saturday, Nov. 3
“I don’t know about this, but I’d like to.”
OR
A post about a conversation with your doctor

Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the prompt : “I don’t know about this, but I’d like to.”

I don't know about alternative treatments for fibromyalgia, but I'd like to know more about what's out there. You see, I can't take meds and I'm at a loss for what is really available to me. Maybe a new diet or two. Maybe new exercises. I don't know about this, but I'd like too!

Day 2 #NHBPM

Friday, November 2, 2012

So for day 2 I can choose from two prompts.
Day 2 – Friday, Nov. 2
Write about the weirdest thing about your health
OR
Find a quote and use it as inspiration

I've decided to write about the weirdest thing about my health. My health is a roller-coaster. I guess the weirdest thing is it changes like the seasons and like the weather. I don't know from day to day if I'm coming or going. I feel like a Maxine cartoon.

Day 1 #NHBPM – Thursday, Nov. 1 “Why I write about my health”

Thursday, November 1, 2012

This month I am once again joining WEGO Health National Health Blog Post Month. For thirty days bloggers will post on the topic of the day. Today's topic is:

Day 1 – Thursday, Nov. 1
“Why I write about my health”
OR
“My favorite thing about social media / the internet / online health communities…”

I chose to write about my health. You can follow the bloggers on twitter with #NHBPM #HAWMC or join the FB event.

Why I Write About My Health?

I write to share with other's the up's and down's of menopause and fibromyalgia. I suffer from both. I'll soon be 52 and I have to face the facts, I am no longer a Spring chicken. I'm a Winter hen. My bones creak, my fingers ache with each keystroke I take, my body longs for the Spring.

It's not easy living in this 52 year-old body, but I make due. I have no choice. It's all I got!

I could bitch and grip about my ailments, but I use humor to make light of a bad situation. I can't take drugs(my system can't handle any form of drug). So I bummed about that. I don't smoke, don't drink, and don't party...so here I am a worn-out, broken down 52 year-old woman who rants and raves about my health.

Menopause and fibromyalgia are serious and by no means am I making fun of those two conditions. I'm poking fun at myself because I have nothing better to do.
