Functional Beverage Shots for Sleep, Energy, Relaxation, Sports, Blood Circulation, and Focus Review

Friday, March 22, 2013

I have to be honest, I've never been one to drink energy shots. I'm not sure why, but it's never been my thing until I discovered Body Works.

I got the opportunity to review a variety of body shots which included
 Energy

I have to admit, I was skeptical about trying something new. All of the Body Works shots are calorie free(a plus for me). When I received my box, the first body shot I tried was the sleep. I suffer from insomnia and I hoped the Sleep shot would help. The Sleep shot tasted pleasant and within thirty minutes of drinking it, I was out like a light.

I also was pleased with the Relax shot. It was pleasant tasting and did relax me. I have to admit though, I didn't like the taste of the other Body Works shots. They left a bitter after-taste and I felt jittery afterwards. I don't like anything that makes my head swim.

I would purchase the Sleep and Relax shots, but as for the others, I can say I would probably never use them.

If you're used to drinking energy shots, then check out Body Works and judge for yourself.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. Although I did not like all of the Body Works body shots, I would recommend you try them for yourself.

I received five of the nuNAAT Brazilian Keratin which included shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, leave-in, and serum. I have to say the shampoo and conditioner left my hair silky smooth. You only have to use a little because it goes a long way, even on my long hair.  The other products work just as good. My hair never looked better.

Hello,

Did you know that 1 in 4 people are living with a mental illness at any given time? That’s 46 million Americans!
I hope you’ll join me and help spread the word that intolerance and mental health stigma are just plain wrong. Find out what you can do:

Spring into Springtime with NeoCell Collagen Beauty Builder and Collagen +C Pomegranate Liquid Review and Giveaway

I'm a big fan of NeoCell and when they asked me to review one of their newest products of course I said yes!

I've used NeoCell products and love them. This time around I got to try their new product Collagen Beauty Builder along with the Collagen +C Pomegranate Liquid.

Once my NeoCell products arrived, I began my Spring into Springtime regiment. My morning routine begins with a tablespoon of Collagen +C Pomegranate Liquid and 3 Collagen Beauty Builder tablets. I also take 3 tablets at night.

My take on Collagen +C Pomegranate Liquid:

I love pomegranates and taking the Collagen +C Pomegranate Liquid is just like eating a pomegranate without the seeds. Less messy too and gluten free! I take 1 tablespoon in the morning with juice or tea. You can also make a delicious pomegranate smoothie. Be sure you wait 30 minutes after you take  Collagen +C Pomegranate Liquid to eat breakfast.
Collagen+C™ Pomegranate Liquid:
Pomegranate's ellagic acid and green tea polyphenols (EGCG) provide a strong combination of antioxidants for protection against free radical damage. With the absorption benefits of ionic minerals, Collagen+C™ Pomegranate Liquid provides the latest in total body health.
Benefits:*
  • Radiant and resilient skin
  • Thicker hair and stronger nails
  • Provides building blocks for collagen synthesis
  • Healthy and strong ligaments and tendons
  • Potent antioxidant*
The delicious, youth-enhancing elixir Collagen+C™ Pomegranate Liquid is a synergistic blend of Super Collagen™ peptides, Antioxidants and Ionic Minerals.

For the 2nd part of my Spring into Springtime regiment, I got to try Collagen Beauty Builder. The directions recommend you take three tablets twice daily. I take 3 in the morning and 3 at night. I'm not a big fan of horse pills, but let me tell you those 6 tablets a day does indeed help keep the doctor away.

Now that you know what my secret is for Springing into Springtime, what are you waiting for? NeoCell is giving one lucky reader a Spring into Springtime Beauty gift pack. All you have to do is enter on the Rafflecopter here.

To find out more about NeoCell check them out on the web, FB, and Twitter.

Disclosure: I received products from NeoCell to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. No medical advice is intended or inferred.

Rock the Red Pump National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD)

It's time for Rock the Red Pump National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day!

Today is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Every 47 minutes, a woman will be diagnosed with HIV in the United States. This epidemic is not just about the woman next door, on the bus, in your office, or down the street. This is about us. Not only should we as women empower ourselves with knowledge but we must show support for our sisters both infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Today is a difficult day for me to write this post. This year I'm saddened to tell my readers my daughter Ashley has AIDS. When I wrote my post last year she was still in the HIV stages. She contracted HIV when she was 18 and now ten years later we have come to this crossroad.

My daughter Ashley was once a vibrant young woman who loved to sing and spend time with her family and friends. Now, she lies in a hospital bed, weighing only 80 pounds. Her dreams of singing never will become a reality. Her greatest moment in her life is when she auditioned for American Idol. She will never have children. My daughter is fading away and there is nothing I can do!

“Every 47 minutes, a woman tests positive for HIV in the United States.“

My daughter is a statistic. She has become a number instead of a person. The choices my daughter made 10 years ago now will probably end her life. If you have sex. please be safe. Don't be a statistic. Don't sign your death certificate! My daughter may not live to her 28th birthday, but you can make sure your daughter does. Take action! Get involved! Be proactive in the life of your daughter!

I regret I didn't do enough to be there for my daughter. I feel I failed her in many ways. I let the stigma and fear associated with HIV stop me from being proactive. Now, I'll never get the chance to turn back the hands of time an make it right. This is one boo-boo I can't kiss and make it better.

Don't be a statistic! ROCK YOUR RED PUMPS....

More about HIV/AIDS:
One of the first steps in the fight against HIV/AIDS is education and awareness.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus and AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a medical condition caused by the virus after someone’s been infected for awhile. HIV is the virus that we know causes AIDS. It enters the body and infects immune system cells, as well as other cells in the body — causing more copies of the virus to be produced. A person who has been infected with HIV is HIV-positive, but does not necessarily have AIDS.

There are many myths about how HIV is spread. You can’t acquire HIV by drinking from a water fountain, sitting on a toilet seat, hugging or touching an HIV-infected person, or by eating off plates and utensils. However, here are some ways HIV can be transmitted:
By way of bodily fluids (blood, semen, and vaginal secretions) during sexual contact. Saliva is not considered a transmission route for HIV.
By sharing needles to inject drugs. Infected blood can be exchanged between the parties who are using the same needle and syringe.
Through the transfusion of infected blood or blood products
HIV-infected woman can pass HIV to their babies during pregnancy, during delivery, or while breast-feeding

Below are some key statistics about how HIV/AIDS affects us and those around us.

HIV/AIDS in the United States:
Every 9.5 minutes, someone in the US will be infected with HIV.
There are more than 1 million adults and adolescents in the United States living with HIV. Approximately one-fifth of them (21%) do not know that they have been infected.

Women and HIV/AIDS
In 2006, women made up 25% of the persons living with HIV in the United States. Women also represented 27% of new HIV infections in 2006.
High-risk heterosexual contact is the source of 80% of these newly diagnosed infections in women in the US.
From the beginning of the epidemic through 2005, almost 86,000 women have died of AIDS and AIDS-related complications.
The largest number of HIV/AIDS diagnoses during recent years was for women aged 15–39.
Seven of the 10 states with the highest case rates among women are in the South.

Minority Women and HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS disproportionately affects minority women in the United States. According to the 2005 census, Black and Latina women represent 24% of all US women combined, but accounted for 82% of the estimated total of AIDS diagnoses for women in 2005.
HIV is the leading cause of death for Black women (including Black women) aged 25–34 years. The only diseases causing more deaths of women are cancer and heart disease.
The rate of AIDS diagnosis for Black women was approximately 23 times the rate for white women and 4 times the rate for Latina women.
In 2006, teen girls represented 39% of AIDS cases reported among 13–19 year-olds. Black teens represented 69% of cases reported among 13–19 year-olds; Latino teens represented 19%.

Youth and HIV/AIDS
In 2006, the CDC estimates that almost 46,000 young people, ages 13-24, were living with HIV in the US. Women comprised 28% of these HIV/AIDS cases among 13-24 year-olds.
African-American young adults are disproportionately affected by HIV, accounting for 60% of HIV/AIDS diagnoses in 13-24 year olds in 2006.

International Women's Day-"The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum" #womensday

Friday, March 8, 2013

Each year around the world, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. Thousands of events occur not just on this day but throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.
"The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum" is the 2013 theme of International Women's Day.
Today is International Women's Day. This is my second year to participate through blogging. Last year's post was Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures. This year I want to talk about what "The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum" means to women around the world.
Many countries will celebrate women. Today countries come together to focus on their women and what needs to be done to provide resources and choices. In 2013 women of the world need to gain momentum in their lives. Without the proper resources many women are helpless in countries that don't care. One day isn't really enough time for a lot of women in countries that consider women property. These women don't have choices without voices.
What can you do as a woman with the many freedoms not afforded to those women?
  • Speak up: Make your voice heard. Promote gender agenda. Give a woman without a choice a voice.
  • Speak out: Women are bullied and abused every second somewhere in the world. The sad reality is most of what happens to these women goes unnoticed. There voices are silenced. There choices are limited by the countries they live in and by their culture. Give a woman without a voice a choice.
On this day and the days ahead woman of freedom give a woman with no voice and no choice a chance to gain momentum when you stand up and let your voice be heard. Your voice matters today. Become part of "The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum". Be part of the solution, not the problem. Give a woman a voice. Give a woman a choice.

March is National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month

Friday, March 1, 2013
50 Million Americans Have an Autoimmune Disease and I am one of them!

Are you a part of an autoimmune family? You are not alone! We are 50 million strong.

During this time of year American's should collectively take notice of the 50 million of our friends, family, and co-workers who suffer every day with one or more of the 100+ autoimmune diseases. This is a category of disease which affects more American's than Cancer and remains one of the top 10 killers of women under the age of 64.

This month, the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) will launch an awareness campaign titled, "We are 50 Million."

The campaign will spotlight autoimmune patient stories from around the country. Patient's answering the question, "How Many of the 50 Million Does Your Family Represent?"

The answers to this question highlight some important facts about autoimmune diseases, facts which every American should be aware.
1. 50 million Americans have an autoimmune disease comprising a major U.S. health crisis
2. There are 100+ autoimmune diseases including, lupus, Crohn's disease, celiac, Addison's disease, vasculitis, vitiligo, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and ulcerative colitis.
3. Autoimmune diseases tend to "cluster" in families, for example, if your grandmother had rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or lupus, you could be at greater risk for developing an autoimmune disease.
4. Less than 13 percent of American's can name an autoimmune disease and yet it ranks as deadly as Cancer and Heart Disease.
5. Autoimmune diseases target women 75 percent more often than men and they are one of the top ten killers of women under the age of 64.

Get Involved! Help AARDA Raise Awareness of Autoimmune Diseases.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I wrote this to spread the importance of autoimmune disease.
