"Qi Orthopedic Pillow" Review #QVCgifts

I have to say, I was excited to try the Qi Orthopedic Pillow because I sit all day and my lower back kills me, but I was a little disappointed because I had to constantly adjust my pillow to get it to work properly. 

I received these instructions with my pillow:
1. For the first time you try it, you only need to give it 3 puffs. After you have tried it with only 3 puffs and have got a sense whether the 3 puffs is too much or too little for you, you can reduce or increase accordingly. With 2-3 trials (within 2-3 minutes), most people have been able to find their most comfortable setting. Once you have found your best setting, you hardly ever need to change it if you continue to use it in the same chair.

2. if you take it to a different seat or chair, you may need to readjust the pillow to suit your best comfort, since different seat or chair often required different levels of support. This is why it is critical that your back support needs to adapt to both your body and your chair, instead of the other way around. And this is one of the things that Qi Orthopedic Pillow does the best.

As a rule of thumb, the tighter the seat/chair, the lower the inflation, such as in car seat; and the more spacious the seat/chair, the higher level of inflation, such as on couch, armchair, sofa or bed.

3. To inflate the pillow, all one needs to do is to twist (counter-clock wise) open the cap (the cap will stay on as opposed to fall off of the valve - a security feature), wrap your index finger and thumb around the cap and PULL the pillow up a little bit with these same two fingers, and place your lips on the adjustment valve via your fingers and blow 3 puffs of air into it, and then twist close the cap (clock wise). That's all there is to it.

The only thing I would change is the inflation method. After a few uses, I did finally adjust to my Qi Orthopedic Pillow and would recommend its use.

Be Wise to the Signs of Burnout- #stress #meditation

While many of us accept ongoing stress simply as a part of modern life, this approach can lead to ignoring the critical signs that you are headed for burnout.
 
According to stress expert Jan Bruce, there are some telltale signs that stress levels are becoming toxic and threatening overall health and well being.
 
1.      Your work-life balance has become an issue.

Balance is a continual, perpetual action to manage the ebbs and flows of life. The things that buffer you are “lifts” – like support of friends and family, proper diet, sleep, fitness, etc. The “drags” that magnify or exacerbate your stress, are anger, home stress, worrying, or even clutter.  When stress leads to burnout it gets harder to rely on your lifts. 

2.     Anger and anxiety have become your signature emotions.

When you don’t have the tools you need to complete the task at hand, you’re going to feel frustrated. And when you feel that people are taking advantage of you, you feel angry. If you find yourself going all the way to anger or anxiety all too quickly, the reaction may have more to do with burnout and less with what’s actually happening in the moment.

3.     Conflicts are an everyday obstacle.

Another sure sign of potential burnout is an increasing level of conflict between you and your colleagues or your loved ones. Maybe you’re not throwing things, but it’s palpably there—the brusque or exasperated tone of emails and kicked-up defenses day in, day out. Conflicts are both the result of stress and a major contributing cause.

4.  Your passion becomes your pain

A sign that things have taken a downward turn is when that the very thing that once inspired and energized you has now become draining. Flagging passion is a sign something’s gone wrong. While your current business or latest project may be flawed, it might be that a different approach will reignite potential, and your passion.

It’s taboo. Write about something that people do but don’t like to talk about or won’t admit to doing.


I'm from the South and where I live most people are still racist and rednecks. Nobody will admit to this fact, but it a sad truth. The "N" word is standard issue where I live. I hate to admit that a lot of people I know still use the word. Nobody wants to talk about it, but it's there in the open spaces of Southern society. Nobody will admit they say the word, but they do. Although, a lot of Southerners are out in the open about their feelings, some still keep it hidden within the confines of their homes. If you ask most Southerns, they won't admit to being racist, but here in the deep South where I'm from it's the norm. 

I do have to admit, I'm not a racist, but growing up I probably said the "N" word without realizing what I was saying. I can't stand the word and think it's ignorant for people to use it whether white or black.

Today's challenge is to write about what's in my purse. Well, I don't like toting a purse around, because I tend to collect too much junk. Right now my purse is filled with a lot of papers, hand sanitizer, lotion, gluten-free cooking bars, several ink pens, and a travel clock.

Most of the items in my purse are for work. I work in an unhealthy environment where germs run rampant. Because I work 10 hours a day I have to have my clock to keep up with the time and my snacks to get me through the day. The contents of my purse never really change. I guess I'm kinda of boring in the purse department.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you've heard about your health condition? Was there any context? What did you think at the time you heard it – and what do you think of it now?

I have fibromyalgia and the most ridiculous things I keep hearing about my disease is "it's all in your head". People can say some of the stupidest things. If you don't look sick, then you must not be sick or you don't look like you're in pain. 

Because people don't understand fibromyalgia it hurts when I hear these things. If they could only go one day on my shoes then they would understand and not judge.

I don't really like to discuss politics on my blog, but when today's #NHBPM topic came up, I wanted to share my thoughts.

Votes are in-you won! If you got elected President, what are the 3 changes you would make to healthcare?


Already in my state almost 90,000 people have lost their health coverage because of ObamaCare and thousands are uninsured(including myself). It's a tragedy and in reality I wish I were president.

These are my 3 changes to healthcare:

1. I would make health care affordable to all but not at the expense of others. There are ways to have affordable healthcare within all the hoopla surrounding the current bill. Every American does deserve affordable healthcare but when you start threatening people or people lose their insurance it isn't something for all the people. Our country was built on the premise of 'We the People'. Healthcare reform needs to have the voice of all the people.

2. Mammograms would be free. It's important to me that all women have the opportunity to get a mammogram. Live is fragile and if one woman's life can be saved because of a mammogram, then the test should be free.

3. Better research/tests for silent killers of women. Ovarian cancer is a silent killer and many women don't know they have it until it's too late. If research and testing were better and of lower cost then maybe women's lives could be saved.

I'm not one to get on my soapbox on my blog, but in reality changes to healthcare do need to be made. Women do need better healthcare and those women who can't afford healthcare need the most help.

#NHBPM Nov. 4: Training Wheels
Write about a time your health condition forced you to grow up and take the training wheels off (so to speak).


Because I suffer from fibromyalgia, I always walk around with training wheels on, but a few months ago I was forced to take off my training wheels and grow up. My youngest daughter passed away in May and my life as I knew it(training wheels and all) changed. I could not longer focus on me or my pain. I had to focus on my daughter. She was very ill and dying. I had to grow up and take care of her regardless of my chronic daily pain. For five weeks I rode by "bicycle" without the use of training wheels. I had to learn to forget my pain and give my child all the attention she needed. I found the strength to get through the days without bitching or complaining about me. My painful world disappeared. I rode through five weeks without training wheels and didn't think about myself. I wrapped my pain up and threw it away. It was difficult to take the training wheels off for 5 weeks, but when you have to grow up and do what's needed the training wheels come off.

#NHBPM Nov 3: My Mascot!

Today is day 3 of #NHBPM and the challenge is to create a mascot that represents what I stand for.

For my mascot I've chosen Xena Warrior Princess. Xena kicks butt and defeats the enemy. These are two things I have a hard time doing with my condition (fibromyalgia). There are some days I can't even get out of bed. There are days I wish I were Xena, I could kick butt and defeat the enemy.

With one swift swing of her mighty sword and her hellacious battle cry fibromyalgia would be defeated.

Having fibromyalgia on top on chronic pain makes my days a challenge, but I try everyday to get through what it will bring.

I think I can do my best to forget the pain.
I think I can understand why this is happening to me.
I think I can get through another day.

I know I can be strong.
I know I can not let my condition control my life.
I know I can help others who are like me.
