Dr. Wendy Warner discusses non-hormonal treatments to control hot flashes!

Did you know that nearly 50 million women in the U.S. are affected by hot flashes?
65 to 80 percent of women experience hot flashes to some degree, and a study recently found that hot flashes can affect a woman’s health and productivity at work. Due to the sheer number of women who are affected by menopause-related hot flashes, it is critical that women become more knowledgeable about the variety of therapy options available.
A recent survey found that more than two-thirds of women ages 50 to 64 said they would be comfortable using non-hormonal treatments to control hot flashes, but only 10 percent have discussed non-hormonal treatment options with their healthcare practitioner.
Wendy Warner, MD, ABIHM of the Medicine in Balance Clinic, discusses menopause, hormone replacement therapy as a treatment for hot flashes, as well as non-hormonal approaches that she often recommends to patients to significantly reduce menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes and mood issues.
